A Spa at Home? Yes, Please.

Renovation Process

A spa bathroom? Yes, please…

It’s done. It’s done. I’m done. Dave’s done. After 9 months of work, our master bathroom renovation is complete. And I CAN’T WAIT to share it with you guys!

*This content is sponsored by Hayneedle.com. All opinions, bad puns, 80’s hair metal & 90’s hip hop references are mine all mine. This post contains affiliate links. Please read our full disclosure policy HERE.*

But first, one of my FAVORITE “all-things-home” companies to work with, Hayneedle, is sharing the space, and a brief interview I did with them about the design process. This project would not have been possible without the partnership we had with Hayneedle.com.

It’s a company that I have worked with many times since the inception of this blog, and it’s a brand that I now trust and recommend to you guys without any reservation. Their pricing is awesome, and the quality of their products is second to none.

Check out the Hayneedle Blog Now…

to read about how we went about creating a spa-like look and feel in our home with this bathroom remodel. And if you don’t recall what the original plan was for this space, here’s our mood board:

Ooohh isn't this master bathroom mood board gorgeous? The inspiration is "London on a gray day" and I'm digging the vibe! If you're wanting black and white bathroom ideas, or grey and white bathroom ideas, this post is a great place to head to now!

And a couple more shots of the renovation process, from beginning to the spa at the end ?.

This was the bathroom when we bought the house. BIG, just big and a bit dated.

We used the original footprint of the bathroom, and ADDED the space from the old master closet (below) to the new bath. So our bathroom grew in size, and so did our closet.

Our new master bedroom closet can be found HERE.

Here comes the demolition. First the closet…

then the rest of the bathroom.

Which provided us with a stunning new lawn ornament (which literally sat RIGHT THERE ⬇ ⬇) for at least three weeks. I’m sure the neighbors LOOOOVED us…

More demolition, and mapping out the size we wanted for our new windows (which gives the new bathroom the most GORGEOUS natural light ☀).

Pouring the concrete base for the new custom shower pan! It’s over 7′ long!

With the shower pan installed, it was time to hang cement board and prep the walls (waterproof them) for tile.

Family fun time…togetherness and tiling.

Rub-a-dub-dub, 3 mini-DIY’ers in a (not yet functional) tub…

Floor tile!!

Isn’t that tile amazing? It’s an inexpensive porcelain with the appearance of a herringbone fabric. It’s gorgeous.

Then FINALLY, in come the finishes!!! Here are some fun glimpses of the new spa bathroom before the big reveal!!

The items we sourced from Hayneedle were MAJOR players in achieving the overarching look and feel that I believe we achieved in this space. Specifically, we used:

Spa Bathroom Source List:

  • Mahogany Vanities
  • Feather Pendant Lighting
  • Gold Sunburst Mirrors (over vanities)
  • Schoolhouse style pendant lights (over vanities)
  • Cork Garden Stool

And Hayneedle also helped put together a wonderful styleboard illustrating a great list of products that together can give you a similar spa-like look and feel in your own spac. So head on over, and write a comment below about what you thought!!

I’m DYING to hear your reviews of how you think it turned out!! It’s been a long 9 months of DIY’ing to put this bathroom together. But now, I can head to the spa anytime I want. I just walk upstairs and close the doors. So I’d have to say, it was worth the work and the wait.

Only products are listed at the Hayneedle site. Mostly items that are not used in your new space. When will the new space be revealed?

I love HayNeedle. Must replace everything down to tooth brushes. Found most kitchen items I need much less than even Walmart.
