the country bedroom (guest room) reveal…
Welcome! Or as they say out here in the country, “Howdy, won’t ya take your boots off and sit a spell?” Here’s the country bedroom you’ll be staying in.
*This post contains affiliate links. Please read my full disclosure policy HERE*.
Actually, I’m not totally sure that whole “boot” and “sitting a spell” thing is actually what they say. You see, I’m a city gal transplanted to the country. And so I kind of make this stuff up as I go along.
I guess if you’ll be staying with us, you probably want to know a little about us so that you’re comfortable we’re “normal”. Since we’re being honest, I’ll tell you “normal” could be a stretch, but even if you were to decide we are FAR from normal, we’re completely harmless, for sure.
Before we get too far in this tour, if you’re looking for the source list for our country bedroom, here it is:
modern country bedroom source list:
- white, ruffle comforter
- mirror end tables (similar)
- Bessie (our resident cow) portrait
- Paint: Benjamin Moore “White Christmas”
- curtain fabric
- chandelier
- blue flow plates
- hardwood floors
- recessed lighting
- white floral lampshades made from this tutorial
- ceiling barn wood
- jute rug
- tabletop mannequin (similar)
Now that that is settled, here’s a few more pics of your “quarters”.
My husband Dave and I bought this home about an hour outside DC last year, and we’ve spent the past year attempting to make it into our rural retreat from our formerly urban and way-too-fast-paced-life.
We met in college…this is then…and the first picture we have of the two of us together. This was right before I got kicked out of the football stadium for concealing an airplane bottle of Jim Beam…for a friend:
And this is now. I know, we’ve aged well…
Don’t anyone try and steal my look.
I’m considering some sort of copyright, patent, I don’t know, whatever. Interestingly enough, THIS was your guest room BEFORE. We’ll title this picture “Of Mice and Mold” since that was what your room was infested with prior to some serious work.
Don’t worry, it’s perfectly fine now…pinky swear.
So come on in and sit a spell on our lovely toile settee (she’s a WHOLE nother story)…
If you’re interested in how to install a barnboard ceiling, check out THIS post.
But don’t stay too long, or we’ll put you to work!
We’ve got pigs to slop! (or maybe those are kids to feed).

Who makes your bed? I have been looking for a 4 poster bed that I can use a bedskirt. Love the room!

Hi Lauretta! It’s an old Ethan Allen bed. Good luck in your search! I think the key for that skirt was the long slits in the corners. Made it fairly easy to work with.
