A Spring Garden Tour & House Tour…
Welcome to our spring garden tour! And a bit of a spring house tour as well. Isn’t springtime the best? Green, green and more green. That’s what it’s all about. So lovely. So refreshing. But, as Kermit the Frog once eloquently said, “it’s not easy being green.”
Preach it brother frog. It isn’t always easy to fit in when you’re a little different, am I right? And it’s in the spring that I become acutely aware that I’m a foreigner in this land.
You see, in the winter, I hibernate. I sequester myself indoors amongst my familiar surroundings and all my creature comforts. When spring rolls around though, you kind of have to get back out there and face the world.

This post contains some affiliate links. Please see my full disclosure policy located *HERE*. A world where stepping out of my house means stepping into a lush country landscape with rolling fields of…something green that I honestly have no clue what it could possibly be.
And amazingly fresh, clean air. And STARS! Did you know that there are, in fact, still stars in the sky? I had no idea that the sky still made those, but they exist out here! And then there’s of course miles upon miles of shopping-center-free-existence save the couple of different brands of tractor supply stores.
Speaking of those places…did you know they sell little baby chicks? REAL LIVE LITTLE CHICKENS. Yep. I walked in that place and found those little darlings near the manure. Manure which, of course, I purchased in order to make myself look legit. But I was outted anyhow when I stopped to snap about 18 shots of the baby chickens and ducks to post on Instagram.
Here’s the text I sent husband from said Tractor Supply store where he had sent me to buy weed and feed (whatever that is). I sent him this text, and came home with manure.
I really do try to fit in out here. I wear the boots…I chew on straw. Although, lemme just tell you I have now discovered that APPARENTLY most country folk DON’T chew on straw. I realized that one day at the bus stop when I kept getting that look that you’ll sometimes receive when you have something stuck in your teeth. Backfire.
But one must keep trying. This year, in our quest to “fit in” we decided to plant us a garden. Everyone else is doing it out here, and who am I to stand above succumbing to the almighty power of peer pressure and the ubiquitous urge to keep up with the Jones’? Husband and I discussed. The convo went something like this:
Me: Let’s plant a garden
Husband: How big?
Me: I dunno, maybe half an acre?
Husband: How about three tomato plants?
Me: Where’s your country spirit?
Husband: You lost it at the Tractor Supply store when you bought me that manure.
Fair point. After a lot of back and forth, we decided to go ahead with a garden. Here’s the snapshot I got from husband while I was out running errands “in town” last weekend.

we now commence the garden tour portion of today’s show…

I so wish I could talk flower types, and discuss the Farmer’s Almanac, and know what planting “zone” I’m living in.

But alas, I’m definitely green. Green like massive neophyte, novice, beginner, NKOTB (sidenote…awesome band. Jordan was the cutest).

And the biggest problem with being green is that I end up SPENDING a lot of green on plants that I have NO IDEA how to care for. But, I guess that gardening is one of those things. A thing that you just have to keep trying. Roll up your sleeves, dig in (quite literally), and learn from experience. So, I’m gonna keep on keeping on.
and now for the house tour portion of today’s scheduled programming…

Yourhome is beautiful and I love all of the green. It reminds me of my home growing up in Georgia, now that I live in the city not as much green.
