Sherwin Williams Kilim Beige SW 6106: The perfect warm neutral? Or a bit too close to your grandmother’s beige for comfort? This paint color review will cover all the details on this neutral hue to help you decide…
Sherwin William Kilim Beige (SW 6106) is a popular beige that works impeccably well in homes with warmer decor styles. It is definitely a warm, true beige or light tan, and not a greige. There are no cool undertones in this color.
What Color is Kilim Beige?
On the Sherwin Williams website, Kilim Beige is classified as an orange paint color, which may seem strange.
It does have an orange base, but it doesn’t scream “orange.” On its own, it’s a beautiful, creamy color that looks like a delicious iced latte.
What are the Undertones of Kilim Beige?
What’s nice about Kilim Beige is that it doesn’t have a yellow base, so you don’t get the same level of yellow undertones that you get with many beiges.
It has more of an orange base, with a tiny bit of red peeking through. This gives it lovely, warm orange-pink undertones which makes it a perfect pairing for decor styles with a little bit of pink (think terra-cotta tile, etc.).
Using Kilim Beige Paint in Your Home
While this is a popular color, it is not the most “user friendly” or neutral beige out there. It’s got some nuance that you should take into consideration before using SW Kilim Beige in your home.
Colors that Don’t Work Well with Kilim Beige
Though Kilim Beige complements warmer decor styles, it does not pair well with gold-beige fabrics and yellow-beige carpets. It will make those textiles look either too intensely yellow or dingy and old.
Earthy undertones also do not pair well with Sherwin Williams Kilim Beige. You’ll want to stick to rich, warm woods that have a hint of red.
I’m not gonna lie – choosing the PERFECT paint color isn’t as easy as seeing what you like online and simply adding it to your space. There’s an entire science behind it! SW 6016: Lighting Considerations
Kilim Beige brings a nice balance to the cool blue or gray light of north-facing rooms.
However, you’ll want to be careful with south-facing rooms. Since these rooms tend to fill with warm afternoon sunshine, it can make Kilim Beige look very warm and golden.
Depending on your decor and taste, you might like this effect, but you may not. As always, I strongly suggest painting a test swatch in your room of choice.
Kilim Beige Coordinating Colors
When choosing a trim color, opt for a warm white, as cool whites will offset the balance. Just be sure there is not too much of a yellow undertone in the white shade.
These are great trim colors that can coordinate well with SW Kilim Beige:
LRV of SW Kilim Beige
Let’s take a closer look, first through some “numerical” details, or the LRV:
KILIM BEIGE LRV = 57
LRV = Light Reflectance Value (you may also seen this called the light reflectIVE value…potato, potatoh): Rated 0-100 with 0 being pure black, and 100 being pure white.
Lighter paint shades REFLECT more light from them and therefore have a HIGHER LRV, and vice versa for darker shades). Below see Kilim Beige (57) side by side with pure white (100):

Kilim Beige Paint Compared to Similar Colors
Kilim Beige has an LRV of 57, which means it is certainly not a light, bright and airy color. It’s very rich and has some weight.
As I tend to prefer colors lighter than 60 in my home, I strongly recommend taking a deep dive into its color profile to be sure it’s right for you before taking the plunge.
Let’s look at SW Kilim Beige compared to some similar Sherwin-Williams paint colors.
Kilim Beige vs Accessible Beige
Accessible Beige, also by Sherwin Williams, is slightly lighter on the Light Reflectance Value scale, with an LRV of 58 (again, Kilim Beige is 57).
By comparison, Accessible Beige has more gray undertones and can be considered a griege, whereas Kilim Beige cannot.
While Accessible Beige pairs very well with cooler and gray colors and darker woods, Kilim Beige looks best with warm colors and warm, medium-toned woods.
Softer Tan vs Kilim Beige
The LRV of Sherwin Williams Softer Tan (60) and LRV of Kilim Beige (58) are very close. They also have a similar level of warmth. While Softer Tan is a slightly lighter shade, it shares a lot of similarities with Kilim Beige in that it also pairs well with warm white trim.
Both Kilim Beige and Softer Tan are both popular tan paint colors from the Sherwin-Williams company. Softer Tan is often described as a true tan, free of pink or yellow undertones.
Softer Tan is noticeably less pink than Kilim Beige and can be paired with neutral-to-cool taupes.
Canvas Tan vs Kilim Beige
With an LRV of 64, Sherwin Williams Canvas Tan is considerably lighter than Kilim Beige (LRV 58). It has an airiness about it, whereas Kilim Beige is rich with some weight.
Canvas Tan is cool enough to pair well with dark gray shades, but it doesn’t have enough gray undertones to be considered a greige. It’s a true, light beige. It lacks any trace of yellow undertones and has the tiniest hint of blues and pinks coming through.

Real Life Homes Using Kilim Beige
Let’s dig in! Here are homes from around the internet that use Kilim Beige.
I hope this gives you a better idea of what you could expect, but that said the actual color a paint looks on a screen versus how it will behave in your own home can often be different, so…
The best way to be sure of any shade is…drumroll…to sample it! (Did you see that coming?)
My recommendation for samples is using these re-usable, re-positionable, peel and stick samples that won’t damage your walls, and you can easily move around your room to see what the paint looks like on each wall ⤵
Living Rooms
We’ll start by sharing probably the most popular place this paint color is used…the living room or family room. There are lots of beautiful examples of this shade in these kinds of spaces.
A quick note here: don’t forget to consider picking the right paint finish…it’s not only about getting the color right! We have an in-depth explanation of choosing sheens here.
1. Great Color in a Neutral Family Room
This may be one of my favorite uses of this color. It’s a perfectly balanced, neutral space by Terracotta Design Build Co. with a less warm, bordering on cool feeling, likely attributed to the light pouring through the windows.
This designer managed to find a rug that matches the wall color perfectly: as mentioned before, no easy feat.
The sliding wood doors and cow skin chair stand out and bring a warm balance to the space.
2. Nice Contrast with White Shiplap and Honey Oak Floors
Kilim Beige was a lovely pick for the walls of this farmhouse-modern home. It adds a nice level of contrast next to the white shiplap on the fireplace.
I think this home really shows how good this color can compliment traditional honey oak flooring. It neutralizes some of the orange, and still keeps the room warm and inviting.
The trim color here is SW Extra White.
3. Warm, But Balanced
Check out the genius neutral decorating style in this family room by Erin Feddersen Home + Style.
The textures in the flooring, wall moldings, herringbone fireplace surround, even the throw blanket are all neutral, but add so much depth and dimension to this rich space with Kilim Beige cabinets and wall color.
The accent color on the wall with windows is Sherwin Williams Hardware (SW 6172), and she uses one of our faves for her trim choice…SW Creamy.
4. Pretty with Pink
What a pretty sitting room from Davenport Design! I love that the dominant color scheme here is pink but not too pink.
The tastefully selected accents – throw pillows and gorgeous bohemian rug – bring out subtle rosy undertones in the walls.
Moreover, the unique carved wood art pieces (which match the wood flooring perfectly) and cream-colored loveseats are a match made in heaven for Kilim Beige.
As for the trim color? It’s Sherwin Williams SW Creamy.
5. Coordinates with Bold Neutrals
Kilim Beige is the beige color glue that holds the cool-toned and bold mosaic fireplace and warm wood accents together in this living room.
6. Beige, but not Boring
This is a no-nonsense room, and Kilim Beige makes decorating easy. It pairs well with the rich, warm wooden flooring and warm white curtains. The simple black furniture and accents are all just icing on the cake.
7. Beige Hue Family Done Fantastically
This space, filled with warm light, is surprisingly light and airy. This is how you do beige right. Kilim Beige happens to be a flattering compliment to the fireplace tile, carpet, and furniture.
There are no dingy yellow undertones anywhere, and the warm wood accents give the space dimension.
8. Inviting Entertainment Space
Sometimes your wall paint color is better off unnoticed. In the case of this stunning TV room, the cherrywood cabinets and wooden ceiling beams needed to be the stars of the show.
Kilim Beige merely provides a warm color backdrop for the fireplace and warm wood accents. This room looks so cozy, I want to snuggle up and watch James Bond right now!

9. Cozy Reading Corner Color
I love this quick video because it shows how much simple accessories can impact your wall color.
This lovely reading corner was warm and inviting before they added the curtains, but the bright, crisp white curtains added some balance to the look of the overall space.
And pay attention to how the wall color changes throughout the video depending on the lighting! WOW! Is that the same color? Yep!
Kitchens
For kitchens, eggshell or satin are popular finish choices for walls. For cabinets consider semi-gloss or high gloss for the most durable finish (and a gorgeous glow).
10. Warm-Hearted Home
They say the kitchen is the heart of the home, and Jennifer’s decor style and home is definitely warm-hearted. We already saw her inviting family room in example #2, and we’ll see yet ANOTHER room in her home later on because she is a champion of Kilim Beige!
In fact, if you really want to see this color in action, during different seasons, times of the day, etc. I’d definitely recommend you scroll through her Instagram feed.
I think this is another great example of how this paint shade pairs with traditional oak flooring and cabinetry.
11. Kilim Beige Kitchen Wall Color
320 Sycamore shares an understated country kitchen look with Kilim Beige SW 6106 walls, white cabinetry, white backsplash, and a creamy pinkish-gray countertop.
The wall color merely serves as a neutral backdrop. The dusty blue door adds a subtle accent that brings a warm-cool balance to the room.
12. Accentuates Warmth of Wood
Here’s a great example of how wonderfully Kilim Beige complements warm woods. It also adds a lovely, interesting contrast with the white trim and built-in cabinets. Beautiful!
The cabinets and trim color here is SW Extra White, and the navy blue island, just peeking in from out of frame is SW Naval. Photo credit: @karenpalmerphotography.
13. Neutral Kitchen Palette
What a unique space! Since there are so many interesting shapes – the window, industrial light fixture and dumbwaiter-style built-in shelving unit – it’s best to go neutral with the paint color.
Kilim Beige was a great candidate as it lends a historical flair without looking too dated.
Bathrooms
Don’t forget the finish! For bathrooms the perfect sheen is either an eggshell or satin. Why? We’ll tell you in this post about paint sheen.
14. Nice Neutral Backdrop
What a lovely, bright and fresh space! Kilim Beige creates a creamy, neutral backdrop for this bathroom. Again, this room maintains a perfect balance between warm (pinky-beige countertops) and cool (brushed nickel hardware).
I love how the green accents and foliage pop against the neutral backdrop and play into a natural, garden theme.
15. Warm, Welcoming Bathroom Space
Here in this bathroom, the beige walls work well with the dark brown tones in the granite vanity countertop.
And this example shows one of my favorite paint color pairings for Kilim Beige – White Dove, which is the color of the vanity cabinets. It provides a good contrast, and helps lighten the room.
Entryways
16. Welcoming Entryway
Suddenly the Game of Thrones theme song has popped into my head, but instead of a Song of Fire and Ice, it’s a song of warmth and cool. That seems to be a common theme in this post!
Here, we have cool grayish-brown doors, white trim and wainscoting, and beautiful wood flooring that has both warm and cool qualities to it. Kilim Beige adds an extra layer of warmth that balances the whole space.
Like that bold door color? Me too. It’s SW Gauntlet Gray.
17. Welcoming Interior Walls
Nothing is quite as welcoming to friends and family as warm-toned neutral paint in an foyer. Case in point, Brittney’s entryway, decked out for the holidays.
Even though Kilim Beige is undoubtedly warm, check out the effect that the cooler toned wood floors here have on the paint. It helps make Kilim Beige look much more neutral in temperature compared to seeing it paired with honey oak flooring, where the orange undertones become stronger.
Exteriors
18. If You’ve Ever Doubted the Power of Paint
All you need to do is check out this exterior before and after from @hometeamrenovations.
Once again, the winning color palette here is SW Kilim Beige (on the shutters) paired with SW Creamy on the brick. Wow. What a difference, right? I love the neutral contrast that the beige shutters provide, don’t you?
19. Can Appear Antique White on an Exterior
Here’s an example of the exterior use of Kilim Beige. Notice how neutral it looks, allowing the warm stonework and black trim (SW Black Bean) to stand out.
20. Exterior Trim for the Win
It’s good to get along with your neighbors, and this South Texas homes’ curb appeal (designed by Judy at @uniquefindsanddesigns361) will surely bring favor on these homeowners within the neighborhood.
And Kilim Beige is playing nicely with its own neighbor here as well. One step lower on the Sherwin Williams paint chip is SW Nomadic Desert, and that’s the shade used here as the base color, with its paint chip neighbor to the north, Kilim Beige touted as the trim color.
Bedrooms
In general for bedrooms, and low-traffic areas, flat paint is fine. If you like something with a bit of shine (and more ease of cleaning) opt for an eggshell or satin finish.
21. Marvelous Contrast with White Molding
Time and again, blue proves to be a great pairing to Kilim Beige. This cozy bedroom dances a delicate dance between warm and cool. And the contrast with the white trim molding is great. Not too much, not too little.
22. Peaceful Paint Shade
You can’t ask for more in a bedroom than a palette that’s restful for the eye, and this one works.
Kilim Beige is used below the chair rail, while lighter SW Steamed Milk is up top. The trim color here is SW Pure White, another one of our favorite pairings for Kilim Beige.
23. Sleeping Beige Beauty
Finishing off this beige paint bucketlist with another room in Jennifer’s home (@fallenleafliving) – her bedroom, and its a beige beauty, perfect for a peaceful nights’ sleep.
This space feels comfortable, but not worn out. Sophisticated, but not stuffy. Anyone else ready for a nice afternoon nap?
There you have it! Kilim Beige, with all its rich, bold personality, is shown in real-life examples, each one unique. What do you think? Could this be the perfect paint color for your own home?
And if this is a color choice you’re seriously considering, remember actual paint colors behave very differently because of variations in the qualities of light and amount of light from space to space.
Paint-sampling is better than ending up paint-sorry! I highly recommend these peel and stick samples because they are inexpensive, re-usable and re-positionable…
Pin this post for later! And if you decide to use this color, leave a comment (or better yet, a photo) on the pin! That helps others know whether they want to try Kilim Beige, too!
