A St. Patrick’s Day tree. Have you heard of that? No? Well, it’s a thing.
OK, that’s a bit of a stretch. Maybe a St. Patrick’s Day tree isn’t a thing quite yet, but mark my words, it’s gonna be. And you’re going to be glad you were in on the leading edge of the trend.

You’ve heard of a Christmas tree, and a family tree…maybe you’ve heard that money doesn’t grow on trees. And soon…VERY soon, I think…you are going to have heard of “St. Patrick’s Day trees.”
But I’m going to need your help if we’re going to get this trend started!
Here’s the deal. Head to your local Dollar Tree or Dollar Store/Dollar General. That’s where you’ll need to grab your St. Paddy’s Day supplies. And if your Dollar Store is anything like ours right now, then…
You Won’t Believe How Many St. Patrick’s Day Decorations Dollar Tree Carries!
If you don’t live near one of those stores, no problem. I’ve linked alternative supplies below!
Supplies needed for DIY Dollar Tree St. Patrick’s Day Tree:
Now that you have your fun and inexpensive green decorations, you’ll want to undecorate your Valentine tree. Don’t tell me you don’t have a Valentine tree!!
Now start decorating your tree!
The great things about this project are:
-
Your St.Patrick’s Day tree allows you to dodge undecorating after Christmas…because we’re gonna keep this unconventional “holiday tree” idea going ALL. YEAR. LONG.
- By the time Christmas rolls around this year, you’ll be Martha Stewart-esque with your tree decorating skills.

If you picked up any of the $1 St. Patrick’s Day shamrock garlands you found either online or at Dollar Tree, try deconstructing them in order to make some ornaments from the chipboard clovers for your tree!
I used a drill to make a little hole to string some ribbon through at the top of each shamrock. If you don’t want to use a power tool for this, no problem. A pair of scissors or another item with a sharp point will work just fine.
Then, string your new ornaments with some festive ribbon, and hang your new St. Patrick’s Day ornaments on the tree.
Using feather boas as garlands is a really simple and great idea for holiday trees, FYI! It’s actually my secret ingredient for a snowy white Christmas tree, too.
Here’s a pic of one of our snowy trees of years past:
For your St. Patrick’s Day tree, try green boas! I only used two of them for this little tabletop tree.
Add some pom pom garland if it makes you happy. Then add some lights. If your tree is pre-lit, then great!
But you may want to pick up some of these fun, battery-operated shamrock light strands at the Dollar Store (or online) as well.
Have fun with it! It’s a simple early spring decorating craft that should take less than 10-minutes to complete!
And if you jump on the unconventional holiday tree bandwagon with me, it will save you even more time because you won’t have to put your tree away after Christmas 😂🍀🎄!
I’m gonna keep this up all year…Valentines –> St. Patrick’s Day –> Easter –> Cinco De Mayo –> Mother’s Day –> Father’s Day –> Fourth of July –> Labor Day –> Halloween –> Thanksgiving –> And BACK to Christmas! Woo Hoo! Did I forget any?
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I hope you enjoy your trendy, new St. Paddy’s tree 🙂
