Holiday Home Tour 2019, sponsored by Mohawk Home…
Do you decorate your home the same way each Christmas, or do you like to mix it up each year?
I’m in camp mix-a-lot. Not to be confused with Sir Mix-A-Lot, of course. He and Christmas probably shouldn’t be mentioned in the same post, but there it was. So. Moving on.

I am so happy to be a part of the Mohawk Holiday Home Tour this year along with my friends at Twelve on Main, Home by Heidi, Blue Agate Abode, Stone Gate Cottage (on Instagram) and We’re the Joneses.
Make sure to check out their stunning homes!
This year, we changed a few things in our family room. Nothing massive, but it’s amazing what a huge impact changing things like your rug and some throw pillows can have on a space.
Honestly, just doing those two things can really give you the look of a brand new room without expending too much time or effort.

- Rug (Mohawk “Vado” in Linen)
- Yellow Striped Pillows
- Yellow Throw Blanket (similar)
- Nativity Set
- Reindeer Decor on Fireplace

The rug we used to have in here was jute. It’s a nice, neutral rug, but it pales in comparison to this new rug in terms of the cozy-factor.

This rug is unbelievably plush and soft underfoot.

If there were a “foot happiness” rating given for rugs, (and there SHOULD be one, right?) this Vado rug by Mohawk would get an A++.

The only other thing besides the new rug that recently happened in this room was that I changed out the throw pillows.
The new ones have beautiful yellow accents and sweet little tassel details on them.

Yellow is my favorite color, and adding those little bits of yellow in here really brightened up the room and made it even happier than it had been before.

The yellow was so cheery I decided to use it as the primary color for our Christmas palette this year.

Coupled with the green of the velvet chairs that are in this room, we decided on an all yellow and green Christmas theme in this room.

Traditional? Nope. In fact, it must be SO non-traditional that it was nearly impossible for me to find yellow ornaments.
I was actually stunned by the LACK of yellow ornaments available. I ended up buying clear ornaments and spray-painting them myself. That’s dedication to a Christmas decorating cause, no?

And that isn’t the only Christmas DIY project in here. For the mantel, I bought plain canvases and did simple line drawings of Christmas trees on them.

They may look like a pre-schooler made them, but I’m still rolling with it.

Enjoy the other homes on the holiday home tour! So many beautiful ideas from women with different styles, but each home is stunning.
