There’s no place like home for the holidays. And we’d like to welcome you to ours this holiday season for our holiday tour.

Having only been in this home a year and a half, we don’t have a lot of experience decking these halls,

But little by little, it’s feeling more like home, and we’re figuring out where things seem like they want to situate themselves over the holiday season.

Since we have little ones at home, we really do almost everything for Christmas in all the most traditional ways. Lots of RED, lots of GREEN.
Even down to the colored lights. We try and keep it looking like we remember our parents’ homes looking when we were young.

I adore homes with less traditional takes on holiday decorating, and someday, once the nest is a little less full, I have visions of ours going that same direction…

But not yet…and trust me, I’m trying to cherish the Christmas seasons we have while they are still young. Not always easy when the “gimmees” work their way into our December-dialect, but I do my best to carpe these diems.

Once in a while, I’ll give a little Christmas craft a go. Our “carolers” above were made by the kiddos out of toilet paper and paper towel rolls. I love them.

Peanuts Christmas has always been a favorite in my family.
I grew up in an era when we all got excited for the “Christmas special” to come on network television so we could get our annual fix of Snoopy and the gang singing “loo loo loo” around the little scrawny Charlie Brown tree.

Some brilliant bloggers turned me onto this idea for falling snow with the cotton balls and fishing line, so I gave it a try this year to spruce up our Peanuts Dept. 56 display.

Even our guest room got a little holly and jolly.

Bessie (our cow portrait) appears happy with the seasonal flair.

There are lots of fantastic holiday decorators in the blogging world. I’m certainly not of that caliber, but the kids are happy with the changes and are eagerly anticipating all the holidays bring.

Hope that things are well in your own nest, and your brood is also anxious to enjoy the holiday season. Thanks for joining us for our little holiday tour.

Your holiday decorating is just wonderful. Wish there was a close up of your tree, it looks like it is decorated just like mine – with all sorts of colorful ornaments. Your children will have wonderful memories of Christmas because you have made your home joyful and welcoming.

Aww, thanks so very much Lala…I hope that they do. I think that's what we all, as parents, strive for, right? Our trees don't really have "themes" here…or I guess if they had one, it would be "nostalgia". The trees are full of the ornaments my husband and I made as children, and the ones our kids are starting to create now. Ones given to us by aunts, uncles and the like over the years. They are patchworks of memories…not matchy, by any means, but definitely full of memories.
