5 Colorful Thanksgiving Table Setting Ideas…
I’m pretty sure you’ll agree with me that playing host on Thanksgiving is both stressful AND fun. And a part of both the stress and the fun is figuring out how to set the Thanksgiving table. In order to take a little of that stress off your back this holiday, I’m sharing 5 colorful thanksgiving table setting ideas today.
If you are coming here from Amber’s blog, Follow the Yellow Brick Home….WELCOME! I’m Heather, and I’m so glad to meet you 😊.
Colorful home decor is big right now. And with a few little items, you can bring to your Thanksgiving table quickly and easily.
I am lucky enough to NOT be hosting this year, but I set our table to show you some of the tips I’m sharing.
5 Easy, Colorful Thanksgiving Table Setting Ideas:
1. spray paint some pumpkins.
This is a great way to transition your orange halloween pumpkins to Thanksgiving time, and stretch the money spent just a little longer.
Simply spray paint your pumpkins, let dry, then plop in the center of the table. You can arrange them in a rainbow spectrum pattern, like I did, or go for a random mix.
Get creative with your colors to match your decor, or other table setting items like napkins and place settings.
2. Get crafty with a pom pom twig centerpiece.
I saw this idea on Aunt Peaches, and I highly recommend checking our her post. She has some great tips for creating these beautiful branches.
Aunt Peaches sprayed her twigs a metallic gold, which I’m kind of wishing I did as well, but I went with white. Honestly, either look beautiful.
I had a bunch of assorted pom poms (in a range of size and colors), and tried to use colors that mirrored my pumpkins.
The pom poms are simply hot glued along the branches.
You can buy branches at the craft store or online, but fair warning…they are PRICEY. I opted to chop some off our curly willow tree and paint those.
I mixed in a couple of really lovely lighted birch branches. They have a 6-hour timer option so they automatically turn on at dusk, which is really nice.
3. Mix and Match Napkins.
Incorporate an eclectic mix of napkins into your thanksgiving table setting.
Don’t have 15 of the same napkin for the turkey eating crew? No worries. Using a mix of the napkins you already have on hand is not only a thrifty solution, but a great looking option as well.
4. Mix and Match Plates or Glassware.
Same advice goes for your plates & glassware as it did for the napkins. Mixing and matching is a great way to give your table interest, color and appeal.
Plus it saves you from the expensive proposition of needing to buy an additional 8 place settings of one particular pattern.
“Dare to be different,” is a mantra we love for almost all facets of life…including Thanksgiving plate & glassware selection. Honestly…it doesn’t matter if they match.
If you add proportional amounts of each plate (4 floral, 4 polka dot, 4 solid, etc) then it will look like your plates were perfectly planned…even if only to save you some $$ (wink, wink).
If you’re going to go with an eclectic mix of plates though, try to keep your glasses uniform, if possible. And vice versa. If you want to add a mix of glassware (depression glass is an AWESOME choice), then try to stay with one plate pattern.
We want a few things on the table to be matchy and pull the whole look together. Which one you choose though, plates or glassware, is totally your call!
The simplest (and maybe best way), to pull color into your Thanksgiving table is with flowers. Adding a natural element to your tablescape is a huge, huge plus.
Personally, I am loving non-traditional colors for Thanksgiving this year.
But you could certainly opt for a more traditional palette, too!
And that wraps it up from our dining room here at the nest…but, there are a BUNCH more beautifully decorated Thanksgiving tables to feast your eyes on still to come…
