My crafty gene always turns on at one and only one time during the year. And that’s over the holidays. You know anyone like that? Well, if you do, then make sure they know about these free workshops offered by The Home Depot.
Each month, your local Home Depot hosts a new #DIYWorkshop. They have them for all skill levels, so no stress if you have never tackled a tiling project, or even swung a hammer.
On Novemer 19, the project at your local Home Depot is going to be this DIY stocking holder! PERFECT idea if you live in a condo, or a home without a chimney on which to hang junior and Susy Loo Hoo’s stockings with care…
this little DIY will have you covered, so Santa will know EXACTLY where to leave that new puppy (insert parental worried emoji here).
DIY Stocking Holder / Stocking Stand Supplies:
This project didn’t take much time to finish, at all. And if you decide to go to the workshop at Home Depot on November 19, they’ll help you with each step.
The finial will simply screw on to the 4×4 post.
We wanted to paint our post, so to prep it, we just gave it a super quick, light sanding with the palm sander. After sanding, we spray painted the post white.
We were able to get a couple sets of vintage skis from Craigslist for $30. Truth be told, they aren’t the nicest looking, but if I come across some gorgeous old wood skis someday, I’ll happily swap these out.
We removed the bindings, then we cut the skis to the desired length based on the height of our post. Since skis are built pretty sturdily (at least the newer varieties) you’ll likely need a special blade to cut them. We ended up using a sawzall with a carbide tipped blade, and that worked really well.
We then screwed the skis into the post.
And installed the hooks.
Voila! We’re ready for Christmas Eve!
And I think this DIY stocking holder could be used for all kinds of wintery things…like scarves, perhaps.
Or maybe to hang those cozy winter blankets? A coat hanger for holiday party guests!
It’s pretty fun and festive, I think. Want to make one too? Then don’t delay!
