Fun women’s graphic tees…
Some people wear suits to work. I’m a blogger. A DIY blogger to be more precise. I’m also, more importantly, a stay at home mom.

And every second that I’m not changing diapers or wiping noses, I’m in the yard pulling weeds, in bathrooms scrubbing toilets, or in the garage painting, creating, or DIY’ing. My career definitely requires a certain dress code…and suits are just NOT “suitable”.
For a while, it was a bit of a conundrum.
Before I delve too far into the wardrobe weeds, if you’re here for the girl in the garage goods…here they are.
All my current faves in the way of casual work wardrobe/attire for the stay-at-home-mom, AKA lots of fun womens graphic tees and such!
But after years of extensive research (at least that’s what I tell my husband…”honey, I had to buy those new jeans in the name of science”), I’ve developed a simple, two-part formula for a functional, but fashionable, winning DIY/stay-at-home-mom wardrobe.
It’s time to share the tricks I have up my sleeves and if the shoes fit for you guys as well…please, by all means, wear them.
Part 1: Never buy anything that’s expensive.
I mean seriously, why would you? If you are a stay at home mom, you know how easy it is to get Welch’s grape juice smeared on your white shirt. Your pants have been peed on, multiple times. If you’re part of our DIY-loving crew, you undoubtedly have paint stains on your pj’s.
It’s par for the course with our job title. Clothes can be ruined in this clan as quickly as they are bought, so bottom line, DON’T SPEND A LOT. Walk on by that lululemon store and don’t look back. $100 for a pair of yoga pants? Are you joking me?
I buy most of my clothes from places like Forever 21 (please DO NOT point out that I am NOWHERE close to 21…I am already painfully aware), eBay (YES, they have clothing!), Chicwish, Target, Choies and good ‘ol Amazon.
I shop online, almost exclusively. Who has time to go to the mall?? So I heavily favor retailers who have an easy-breezy return policy, like Amazon.
Part 2: Pick Personality
Picking out new clothes shouldn’t be painful. It can still make you smile, and it should! Right now, my favorite clothing items have got to be…
Yep, womens graphic tees fit me to a tee. A team jersey, or something from your alma mater? Of course!
T-shirt with my favorite band’s logo? Yes, please. Something a bit off-kilter and unexpected? Definitely.
My point is, just because we’re running the soccer circuit these days, ladies…we don’t need to hand in our tres chic card, necessarily.
Now, I realize that these clothes aren’t completely Carrie ala Sex in the City, but at least sporty womens graphic tees and some hip jeans don’t make it look like we’ve given up ALL hope…you know?
It’s better than this option, right?
Or settling for the “mom jeans”…
Suits may be frowned upon in those stay-at-home-mom employee handbooks, but we can certainly still be cool.
I say we take that shoestring budget and bust out some trend, ladies. Girls in the garage, get out of those sweats from 1992 and put on something new. After all, you gotta admit…fashion is still a little fun, right?
Pin this post for later! And if you make one, leave a comment (or better yet, a photo) on the pin! That helps others know whether they want to try this project, too!
