A simple front porch makeover…
Have you been considering a front porch makeover for your home? Well, if front porches are on your mind these days, I can’t wait to share this front porch makeover with you that came together thanks to a bit of elbow grease, and some gorgeous outdoor furniture.
There’s something magical about a front porch. If they could speak, front porches no doubt would say, “Welcome!” Front porches are where neighbors gather. They’re a spot where adults can relax while watching the kids turn cartwheels, or ride bikes out front. Porches create community, don’t they?
I have always loved our front porch…it wasn’t an amazing-looking space at the onset, but I always felt like it had so much potential!
Sadly, this porch of ours wasn’t living up to that potential. Truthfully, the front porch was one of the things that first attracted us to this home. It’s always looked great from afar, like in the shot of our house up top (it’s on the left side of that picture).
But close-up?
We needed a serious front porch makeover. STAT.
Yikes. Good bones. Bad makeup. It just needed a bit of love. Some love, and a good power washing to start.
And that’s just what we did. Cleaned her up, and got rid of the junky old furniture (that I have had since college). All that was left to do was bring in the new furniture!! Woo Hoo!!
POLYWOOD has an awesome online planning tool to help you plan your outdoor space. Their outdoor furniture planner quiz will help you select the right furniture for your space in minutes.
It asks you questions about your space shape and size as well as your personal style and provides you with a few options that might be a great fit for you!
We selected a gorgeous, traditional rocker set for our front porch.
It comes with two rockers and a side table. We added an additional rocker since the size of the front porch is pretty large.
The Estate Rocker Set comes in (7) colors. We chose Slate Grey.
Although we love color here, for the exterior of our home, we couldn’t go too crazy. Instead of standing out too much, we wanted something that would blend in nicely with the traditional look of our home.
But certainly, I’m all for adding some punchy color in the way of outdoor throw pillows, blankets, and accessories!
The throw pillows shown are sections of the Maryland state flag (our home state). I think we have one of the most colorful state flags in the nation, which we definitely dig!
POLYWOOD furniture is so well made. It’s very heavy duty. It’s all-weather…the rain just beads up on it. Doesn’t saturate the furniture. Even the screws/hardware are marine-grade quality – low maintenance all around!
POLYWOOD furniture is made of a special blend of plastics which includes recycled milk jugs and detergent bottles. I ❤️that they use recyclables in the production of this furniture. It made us feel even better about the brand and the furniture!
Now that the front porch makeover is done, we tend to head out front in the evenings, instead of out back. And you know what? We’re talking to our neighbors more.
The kids are playing with other kids running around the hood. It’s a good, good thing. POLYWOOD has definitely helped this family rethink our outdoor space…
If you’re in the market for an outdoor furniture upgrade, I sincerely hope you consider giving POLYWOOD a try. I know you won’t be disappointed!

Linda you are making me smile. I loved my bentwood rockers SO much. I bought them while I was on a mission trip in college from a couple in eastern Tennessee. They were homemade. Sadly, after 20+ years of being loved and used in every single home I’ve had since, they are WORN OUT. Just totally worn out. If they’d have been inside, they’d still be going strong, for sure, but they are really, really hurting now, sad as I am to say so!! THANK YOU so much for your comment. Made me smile from ear to ear. I’d happily give them to you if you were closer, for sure!!
