A “handy” free printable valentine for kids with a no-candy rule at school…
We made these printable valentines this year out of desperation. A couple of weeks back, the new school principal sent around an email banning candy. That’s right. A Valentine’s party with NO candy.
So now what do we do? After the hand-wringing, I realized I needed to take matters into my own hands. That cheap-o favor aisle in the local party came in real hand-y at least here in our home school district.
My kids couldn’t decide which “hand” favors they preferred, so we bought two hands. You know what they say…two hands are better than one, right? Dunno.

But you can’t go wrong with the sticky, glittery, gelatinous hands, or with the loud clapping hand thingys. I mean, who wouldn’t want those, right?! I’d take that over a Kit-Kat ANY DAY ?.

Guess we gotta make lemons out of lemonade. Just make sure it’s lemon-ade and not lemon-heads. Because THOSE are a banned substance.

Supplies needed for DIY printable valentines:
- download the printable (just click the link or graphic below)
- basic white 8.5″ x 11″ card stock
- home printer
- sticky hand thingys – OR – hand clappy thingys
- paper cutter or scissors
- snack bags
- stapler
I used basic snack bags to put the party favors in. Those are easy to find, and inexpensive, to boot. Then, you simply print out, cut out, fold and staple the filled bags in place. Voila.

Let’s give ourselves a hand!!!
The kids are really happy with these no-candy printable valentines, which is great. Hopefully, if your school has gone candy-free ☹️, this hand-y printable valentine may bring a smile to your kiddos this Valentine’s Day, too!
