A pink bedroom. That’s what she wants.

And this is despite my best, and somewhat underhanded efforts to steer her AWAY from the color of Pepto Bismol and pigs.
The shade of super-sugary cupcake frosting, 1980’s lipstick, grocery store carnations, Victoria’s Secret logo, and fake lemonade…yes it’s PINK that her sweet little heart desires more than all the cupcake frosting in the world. So, I’ve slowly come to accept that there WILL, in fact, be a pink bedroom.
I tried this makeover once before. Last year, I told her I’d finish it. I told myself the same. And all of you, to boot. But, sadly, I lied. Unintentionally, of course. I’m not THAT underhanded. But I just wasn’t quite inspired enough to go through with the plan, I don’t think.
Mostly because I was secretly pining for her old room.
I kinda think she’s kinda pining for it, too. To this day, she talks about her old room, even though it’s been years since we moved.

The old room was perfect for her (and for me). Yes, there was pink, but it didn’t feel like you were drowning in a vat of “strawberry” kool-aid. You know? It was feminine, but not in a smack you upside the head kind of way, I’d like to think.
But it’s time to move on. And we’re starting fresh. And that means,
We’re ALL in on pink, people.

Here’s our starting frame of reference. We’ve got a timeline of 6 weeks, friends. Six weeks will hopefully be long enough to transform this plain vanilla box into a pink-tastic, cotton candy wonderland, yet short enough that she won’t have time to change her mind in the interim and decide that she would instead prefer a moody, sleek, all black bedroom. #PrayForUs
So far, we’ve replaced the windows and stained the hardwood flooring. And now this is what we’ll need…

Some type of prominent ceiling feature…like a ring, maybe with a bright color to help it pop. THIS wallpaper: (no longer manufactured)

Your description of pink is the best! I am pining for her old room. How fantastic was that?! Can’t wait to see what you do with the new one.

I hear you on the pink! I’m doing the ORC for the first time and it’s my daughter’s room. And, you guessed it, pink. I bravely let her pick the paint choices. Of course I only gave her a few of my pre-approved choices, but she picked them. We too have been pining for her old room which was pink and yellow. This time, new house, new room, and now she wants pink and white. However, she did inform me the other day that at the next house (she’s already planning a move in her head) that she wants aqua and silver! That girl! Onward we go towards pink!
