This easy pom pom beach hat is perfect for summer!
There’s something very fun about the right beach hat in the summer.
When you’ve found that perfect floppy hat to have atop your head whilst you lounge by the pool…drinking a fruity, frozen cocktail…well, not much could be better than that, in my mind.
Unless you throw some pom pom trim into the mix. And THEN, that right there is just about perfection. Add in some some chips and queso, and I’d say that may be my definition of heaven, friends.
This embellished beach hat is super simple to create. Here’s a quick video tutorial…

How to create a Easy DIY Beach Hat with Pom Pom Trim for Summer
This craft project is super duper easy. The video above will show you all you need to really know. You can probably mix a pitcher of lemonade, and pack your beach bag WHILE tackling this project it’s so easy. Here’s the super simple low down…
1. Pick floppy hat of choice.
I’m loving all these “quote” wide brim hats I’m seeing all over this summer. They’re so fun!
2. Choose pom pom trim, or trim of choice.
I went with pom pom trim for my beach hat, but I think fringe trim would look great as well. Choose whatever you like best!
3. Glue pom pom trim to beach hat.
Gorilla Glue “Clear Grip” is a great choice for an adhesive for this craft project. Why? Because it:
- dries crystal clear
- bonds to fabric
- is waterproof (perfect for the beach or pool!)
- dries quickly
Simply add a bead of glue to the base of the hat. Moving in sections of a couple inches at a time, apply the Clear Grip, then the pom pom trim on top.
Before cutting the end of the pom pom trim once it’s made a revolution around the hat, make sure to cut it a tad long so it overlaps the beginning of the trim.
If you want to add a second layer of pom pom trim, try to offset the poms so they don’t lie on top of each other (as seen below).
That’s it! Head out to the pool with that adorable pom pom trim beach hat and have a ball! And a fruity drink…I’ll share one with you from afar. Happy summer, friends!
