If so, this is the post for you! Believe it or not, organizing your Tupperware can be simple as well as oh-so-satisfying! Here’s how to get things in order—and why you should make the effort.
Benefits of Organizing Tupperware
We’ve all been there. You’re trying to find the perfect container for your leftovers, but all you can find are mismatched lids and containers that don’t fit together. It’s pull-your-hair-out frustrating, time-consuming, and can lead to wasted food and money (ugh!).
By taking the time to organize your Tupperware, you’ll save time and stress in the long run. Not convinced? Here are a few reasons why organizing your Tupperware will change your life:
1. Saves Space
Organizing your Tupperware means you can maximize your storage space. Stacking containers and lids neatly allows you to fit more into your cabinets and drawers. You’ll have more space for other kitchen essentials, like pots and pans, or that new air fryer you’ve been eyeing. 😉
2. Reduces Clutter
Let’s be real…a messy Tupperware drawer or cabinet can be an eyesore. Just imagine how decluttered and beautiful your kitchen will be once you’re done! Plus, once all the clutter is outta there, you’ll be able to find what you need quickly and easily.
3. Saves Money
How many times have you had to throw away food because it spoiled in plastic containers that weren’t properly sealed? Keep food fresh longer by weeding out the old Tupperware pieces that don’t function to their full potential.

Different Ways to Organize Tupperware
Okay, now that I’ve sold you on getting your food storage cabinet in order, If your Tupperware drawer is a mess, don’t worry, you’re not alone! Keeping your Tupperware organized can be a challenge, especially in a household like mine where multiple people pull it out or put it away (incorrectly!).
But there are several different ways to get it under control.
First things first, make your organization oodles easier by taking inventory of your Tupperware collection. Pull everything out and get rid of any containers or lids that are broken or missing their other half. After you narrow down your collection, it’s time to start organizing the pieces that remain.
Here are some ideas for how to organize Tupperware:
Using Drawer Dividers
One of the easiest ways to organize your Tupperware is to use drawer dividers. Simply divide your drawer into sections for containers and lids to help you keep everything organized and easy to find.
Stacking Containers
Another way to organize your Tupperware is to stack the containers. This is ideal for anyone with limited kitchen space. Simply stack the containers from largest to smallest on a shelf or in a cabinet and stack the lids separately.
Using a Pegboard
A pegboard can come in very handy for organizing your Tupperware. Use it vertically and hang the containers and lids on hooks. Or install it into a drawer or cabinet to organize Tupperware and help it stay that way.
Using Magazine Racks
Magazine racks can also be repurposed to organize your Tupperware lids. Simply place the magazine rack in a cabinet or drawer and stand the lids up in the slots. This will keep them organized and prevent them from getting lost.
Other Tips
Here are a few other tips to help you organize your Tupperware lids:
- Store your lids separately from your containers. This will make it easier to keep them organized and prevent them from getting mixed up.
- Try nesting your lids by stacking them from largest (on the bottom) to smallest (at the top) to find what you need faster and easier.
- Consider using a label maker to label your lids with the corresponding container size or shape.
- If you have a lot of Tupperware, consider dedicating a specific drawer or cabinet to it. This will make it easier to keep everything organized and in one place.
- Pull-out organizers are great for storing larger containers and can be installed in your cabinets or pantry.
No matter what system you choose to use, the key is to find a system that works for you. So, get organized and say goodbye to Tupperware chaos!

Take a note from Small Stuff Counts’ book and simply stack like with like as an easy and effective system.
2. Tension Rod Organization
Do you have small tension rods around? Use them to store your Tupperware lids like Montana Prairie Tales did so that you can always find what you need at a glance.
3. Wooden Divider
I love this system from My Great Challenge for two reasons.
First, I’m much more likely to use it than I am to use multiple tension rods. And second, it seems heavier duty and simple, which is a must with my family!
4. Added Storage Drawer
Who says you can’t put plastic drawers inside your cabinets? Since I hate seeing a cabinet cluttered with storage containers, I love this idea from The Polished Habitat.
It gets all those smaller pieces out of sight, so everything looks sleek.
5. Peg Board to the Rescue
Merry Pad made genius use of a cabinet pull-out by installing a piece of peg board cut to fit and using mini dowels to designate which sizes go in each area.
Family members can’t just toss pieces anywhere with this system, so it helps to get AND STAY organized!
6. Sliding Shelf and Lid Organizer
If you don’t have those fancy schmancy professionally installed cabinet pullouts, never fear!
Love and Renovations installed a simple version, and it makes a terrific DIY way to organize and store Tupperware.
7. Lazy Susan Container Storage
I Heart Organizing shows us just one more way that Lazy Susans can play the versatility card.
If you love them for storing oils, spices, or passing the butter at the dinner table, you’ll want to add them to your cabinet for Tupperware too.
8. Under-Shelf Baskets
The Hyper House makes brilliant use of often wasted space by utilizing under-shelf baskets for those Tupperware lids.
It’s easy peasy, keeps those lids from getting lost in the shuffle, and is cheap!
9. Use a Pot Organizer
Premade pot holder racks and plate racks are a simple and effective way to store your lids!
Simply set the organizer in place as The Simply Sorted Home did so that you can slide your Tupperware lids into place according to shape and/or size.
10. Make Use of Your Vertical Space
When in doubt, go up! Mrs. Organised employed simple risers to create vertical Tupperware organization and storage (the b
If you have few cabinets or tall cabinets, this is a clever way to maximize the space you have. It also works for open shelving if you don’t have cabinets at all!
11. Upper Cabinet Baskets
It’s uncommon for Tupperware to not look at all cluttered. If you prefer to keep yours out of sight, try this trick from The Homes I Have Made.
Those simple wire baskets/plastic bins have two important jobs. First, they hide the containers and lids in an attractive way. Second, they make it easier to find what you need when you have to use high storage where you can’t see (or reach) everything easily.
Don’t forget the labels so you know what’s in each basket!
12. Simple Shelf Storage Baskets
No matter where you store your Tupperware containers and lids, baskets make it easier. And that’s especially true if you store your plastic storage containers (or my preference, glass storage containers) in a deep drawer or shelf where the back can be hard to see.
A Simplified Life Blog shares a great way of keeping it simple and practical by stacking the lids from smallest (in the front) to largest (in the back) inside of economical plastic storage bins. The end result is a great thing!
13. Acrylic Organizer for Visibility
Sometimes I have a hard time seeing what’s in my cabinets – especially when I’m pulling things out of low cabinets or high ones.
Clean and Scentsible shares a good idea of using clear acrylic containers which make it easy to see exactly which pieces of tupperware are stashed inside without the frustrating lid manhunt.
14. Dish Drying Rack Tupperware Storage Hack
Or, trade out the baskets for a cheap plastic dish rack like Hometalk did!
They’re readily available (check your local dollar store), fit any budget, and the best part is that the utensil area is PERFECT for holding those small lids that get lost super easily.
15. Cabinet-Mounted Solution
Here is a super creative idea from Little Adelaide Kate – that’s a great use of unused space. Take advantage of the inside of your cabinet door for Tupperware lid storage!
Although I haven’t tried it myself, I think this method could also be a good way to hold those really small containers that always seem to get lost in the shuffle.
The pockets can be made different sizes to accommodate large lids to small, and everything in between.
How to Maintain Your Organized Containers
Now that you’ve got your Tupperware organized, it’s important to maintain the system by consistently putting containers and lids back in their designated spots. This may require a little effort, but the payoff is SO worth it.
Make sure you take the time to show the new system to the members of your household too. Putting the containers and lids away makes for a great chore for young children!
Just imagine it…no more searching for the right lid or having containers fall out at you when you open the cabinet (yes, please!). With a little organization and maintenance, your Tupperware cabinet can be a source of pride rather than frustration.
No more tupperware avalanches! For you, it’s only tupperware awesomeness from now on.
