DIY scarf garland tutorial…
Sometimes the “O Christmas tree’s” branches aren’t so lovely. Sometimes, you have a cheap-o fake tree and you gotta work some magic.

Luckily, it’s Christmas time, and love and magic are in abundance. Today, we’re gonna work some Christmas magic on our cheap artificial tree with the help of some DIY garland made from…
scarves.

Here’s a brief video that will show you all you need to know about this DIY scarf garland project…

If you’re lucky, you can find inexpensive scarves at a thrift store, or a street vendor (if you live in a place like New York). If these options don’t work, I’ve linked some of the best deals I’ve found for similar scarves below…

DIY scarf garland how to
Honestly, I shouldn’t really be giving anyone a tutorial on how to trim a tree. Truth is, it’s not a strength of mine. That being said, this is pretty simple.

As you can see in the video, I just stuffed my scarves into the branches of our fake tree here, there, and everywhere. I personally put the garland on before any ornaments or fillers.

Not sure if you noticed, but we have some natural branches in our fake tree…that’s one of my BEST tree trimming secrets.
So if you’re looking for a novel way to deck the halls this year, consider some scarves.
Sometimes it’s so cold even your tree could use a little bundling up ๐

I’d like to hear/see more about the fake fur tree skirt you made!

That was the easiest tree skirt ever, Terri! I went to Jo Ann, bought 3 yards of the “luxury faux fur” from Jo-Ann. Here’s the affiliate link: http://fave.co/2hmS8tM I bought the fox for this tree, and the husky for our family room tree. I didn’t do anything except buy it, and throw it under the tree ๐

Love the scarves on the tree! Could you tell me how many scarves you used and how tall the tree is. I hate to ask, but I want to order the right amount of scarves.
Heather says
Of course!! I need to go back and write that into the post, because it’s a great question, and one that I certainly should have answered. I linked the exact scarves I purchased on eBay. They came in a lot of 12, so that’s how many I used, and the tree we have them on is slim, and about 8′ tall.
