As a parent, you know how quickly time passes by. Handprint art (and footprint art, too) is such a great way to immortalize those precious little prints for all time.

Today, you’ll hopefully come away from this post with some handprint crafts and ideas for every season.

I’m not much of a “crafter” if I’m being honest with myself.

I love craftiness and crafty people, but when all is said and done, I just don’t have the energy to scrapbook or to make pumpkins out of old sweaters. Maybe someday…

That being said, I DO love handprint art projects. It’s one of the only “crafty” projects I try to do on a somewhat routine basis because, for one, the kids love it.

And TWO, handprint art and footprint art immortalize those precious little prints for ALL time. They’re something that can be passed along when they grow up and have homes of their own to decorate for the holidays.

DIY handprint projects can be done on plain canvases, or on plain Christmas ornaments (best to use the shatterproof kind. The less holiday drama the better, right?).

Seasonal DIY Handprint Art & Footprint Art Ideas

There are tons and tons of pins on Pinterest about handprint art. Whenever I’m in need of inspiration, I pour through those, and then kind of bust my own move and add my own take on what I’ve seen.

Christmas Kids Handprint Ideas

The canvas below is kind of three different handprint art and footprint art ideas made into one winter scene.

Hot-gluing ribbons, googly eyes, bits of pipe cleaner, glitter, or whatever else you may have in your craft supplies can bring in some dimension and interest.

It’s a fun idea to write your kids’ names and ages by each hand. You can do that with a Sharpie pen. Easier than painting, in my book.

There are so many varieties you can try! Last year we made these snowmen,

but we’ve also done Santas, reindeers & angel ornaments to name a few (here’s a more thorough post on those).

Fall and Halloween Kids Handprint Art Ideas

You’ll definitely want to find a place of honor in your home to display these as the seasons approach. We hang some each year in our foyer.

To get the Halloween look below, you can use the sides of their hands for pumpkins and their thumbprints for bats and spiders.

Summer Handprint Art Ideas

Try a patriotic American flag canvas for the Fourth of July.

There are off-white hands in there for the white stripes, but it’s hard to see. The stars can be made your kiddos’ thumbprints.

Flowers can be great for summer…maybe for a Mother’s Day gift, perhaps!

The sun rays are handprints as well.

Spring and Easter Handprint Art

Springtime and Easter handprint and footprint art ideas are abundant, too!

Try these cute little chicks, perhaps!

Get out some paint, and use those cute little fingers to help you get into the spirit of whatever holiday happens to be coming down the pike!

It’s always a pretty quick project that will be cherished for a long time to come.
